A Productive Night with the Nixon Minority Male Leaders

Yesterday we held one of first meetings of the year and started off with a bang. After reviewing tutor schedules, and upcoming plans for 4 different college visits (starting next week with UNC-Pembroke), we held a student led Double Windsor NeckTie Workshop. After participants selected from a box of ties that had been donated to us, 3M Member James Davis led the group in learning how to form the Windsor knot. The guys were extremely engaged and as you can see had fun during several trial runs to get the perfect knot.

Later during that night 3M followed up with our second Thursday of volunteering with the Grandparent’s Support Network. These children that rarely get to receive mentorship from collegiate black males, had a chance to hang out and see what it was like to speak with future black scholars. We look forward to continuing the relationship with the Grandparent’s Support Network and will be adding more volunteers. In the future we will be coordinating a trip for these kids to CFCC.
