Evaluation
In the 2005 LRC Survey, 95% of users rated the number of staff as at least adequate (adequate, good, or excellent), with 97% rating the knowledge of the staff as at least adequate (LRC 2005 Survey Results). In the 2002 Faculty and Staff Survey (Spring 2002), 95% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the LRC “staff are courteous and helpful.” In Spring 2004 (Spring 2004), this number decreased to 83%. As a response, all LRC personnel attended a 3-hour Customer Service workshop on October 7, 2005.

In the Graduating Student Opinion Survey, 2005, 94% of graduating students were satisfied or very satisfied with the helpfulness of the LRC staff (Survey Results).

(*All percentages are derived by omitting NA and/or Neutral responses)

Learning Lab
The learning lab is staffed by two full-time employees and thirty-three part-time employees whose hours vary from 10 to 20 hours per week. All part-time instructional facilitators have a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and most individuals have a master’s degree in a discipline in the subject area that he/she tutors. Each full-time employee, one at the North Campus and the other at the Wilmington campus, has a Master’s degree. Students who have completed a course with an average of “B” or better may be hired to tutor in specific subjects on an as needed basis. A roster of Learning Lab personnel is attached (Learning Lab Personnel Roster).

The learning lab trains the tutors and facilitators at least once a year and invites them to attend in-house workshops and seminars if open to part-time employees. In the past the learning lab has obtained funds through internal mini-grants and organized workshops in teaching/tutoring developmental courses and supplemental Instruction. As part of professional development the two full-time employees attend conferences and workshops in their areas of expertise to enhance student learning.
