North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher

The North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher helps visitors " enjoy 'The Waters of the Cape Fear,' as they take a journey down the Cape Fear River – from freshwater streams and swamps, to coastline habitats, to reefs and the open ocean."

Paw's Place

No-kill dog shelter that strives to rehabilitate hurt or homeless dogs and find them loving homes. Paw's Place provides its dogs a "sanctuary" until they are adopted. This organization has volunteer opportunities working with the dogs, helping with the upkeep of facilities. It also has volunteer opportunities that do not involve working directly with the animals, including marketing, web development, and administrative work.

Wildlife Rehabilitation and Resource Center, Inc.

"Providing rescue & care for orphaned & injured wildlife, as well as a sanctuary for disabled wildlife, Wildlife Rehabilitation & Resource Center is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.  In addition to hands on care, this organization provides information and assistance regarding local wildlife."
