The Arboretum's Ability Garden

"Horticulture Therapy, a program of the Arboretum at New Hanover County focuses on the Ability Garden. This is a unique garden space designed to encourage and promote successful gardening opportunities. The site provides the opportunity for all citizens to engage in gardening activities within a 'can do' environment. Gardening is promoted as essential to our concept of quality of life for individuals of all ages and abilities."

Rainbow Farms: Residential program for adults on the autism spectrum. The program, located on a farm, provides residents frequent learning opportunities during the normal course of each day.

Sunrise Day/Night Program: Day/night program for individuals on all levels of the autism spectrum. This program, which serves all ages, focuses on providing educational, recreational and therapeutic activities, including light cooking, laundering of clothes, sensory activities, computer time, and individualized educational instruction.

Local chapter of Easter Seals that devoted to serving people living with disabilities. Disabilities include cerebral palsy, autism, Spinal Bifida, mental retardation, muscular dystrophy, stroke, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, hearing and visual impairments, and mental health conditions.

Special Olympics of New Hanover County

Local affiliate of Special Olympics that "offers 11 sports including golf, soccer, basketball, aquatics, bocce, softball, tennis, power-lifting, athletics, roller skating and bowling. Step Up For Soldiers

Organization dedicated to serving members of the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Students who work with this agency will have the opportunity to assist with a variety of projects, including web design and development, event planning, fundraising activities, and construction (i.e. building wheelchair accessible ramps for disabled veterans).

WARM: Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry

"WARM unites people of compassion to rebuild homes and restore hope. Using mostly volunteer labor, we complete urgent repairs for low income homeowners, mostly elderly and disabled."
