Cape Fear Guardian Ad Litem

Program that " offers enrichment opportunities to approximately 500 abused, neglected and dependent children who find themselves in the foster care system in New Hanover and Pender Counties, and supports the 150 Guardians ad Litem (GAL) who advocate in court for these children."

Centre of Redemption

Non-public, faith-based restorative program offering a "safe house" and boarding school atmosphere for victims of human trafficking who are pregnant or have a child. Volunteers must complete a 4-session, 4-hour training to understand the context and needs of this sensitive subject.

Nourish NC

"Nourish NC began in 2008 when a small group of concerned women discovered that children in their school were going hungry on weekends. These parents decided to take action and funded a backpack program for those 20 children at Carolina Beach Elementary School. News of the success spread quickly and Nourish NC expanded to a middle school in 2009. With widespread interest in the program, Nourish NC became a 501(c)3 non-profit and now provides weekend meals for over 190 children in New Hanover County schools. Nourish NC also provides weekend food for the long holiday and summer breaks."
