Artsplosion! @ the Center! – Saturday, October 10

Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College will officially open its Humanities and Fine Arts Center on Saturday, October 10 with  Artsplosion! @ the Center! This FREE event will feature performances by New Hanover County performance arts groups and the nationally acclaimed Squonk Opera.

Doors open at 11:00 am, and the stage curtain will officially be raised for the first time at noon.  Seating in the Performance Hall is limited, and free tickets for the first curtain-raising will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis as the audience enters the building.

Schedule of events for Artsplosion! @ the Center (subject to change due to weather):

11:00am          Doors open

Squonk Opera “Pneumatica” – Courtyard

Arts Resource Gallery opens

11:30am          Performance Hall house opens

12pm                First Curtain Raising (featuring CFCC and New Hanover County performing arts groups) Performance Hall

12:15pm           Squonk Opera “Pneumatica” – Courtyard

2pm                 Squonk Opera workshop combining science and art – Courtyard

3:30pm            Squonk Opera “Pneumatica” – Courtyard

Throughout the day, from 11am – 5pm, there will be an Arts Resource Gallery in the main lobby featuring New Hanover County based arts organizations. The CFCC Fine Arts department faculty and students will be creating art all throughout the facility for guests to enjoy.  Faculty and students from CFCC’s music department will be performing both inside and outside the Center.  Following the First Curtain Raising, the Performance Hall will remain open for viewing.

Many groups will take the stage during Artsplosion! among them: CFCC Music Department, CFCC Visual Arts Department, CFCC Drama Department, Boys & Girls Club of Wilmington, Cape Fear Chordsman, Cape Fear Dance Theatre, The Dance Cooperative, Dreams of Wilmington, Dram Tree Shakespeare, LaCi, Snipes Academy, Stranded Silver, and St. Mary’s Suzuki Violins

Artsplosion! @ the Center is a day of celebration for all ages and is free and open to the public.
