received a BA in English from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and an MA in English from West Texas State (A&M) University in Canyon, Texas. She completed a Master’s thesis, Mental Dialectics: Writing and Thinking, in which she considered composition as a pragmatic, logical reconciliation of coexisting contradictions. Critical thinking was at the core of her studies.

Her teaching methods reflect commitment to the learner’s opportunity to seek and maintain contraries, to recognize ambiguity within factual contexts, to remain open-minded while maintaining a sense of personal conviction, to search for best possible solutions based on probability, logic, and intuitive good sense.

Professional enrichment highlights of her teaching career include a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Summer Institute hosted by The Johns Hopkins University; presentation of papers for the National Humanities Association and the National Pop Culture Association; and participation in and presentation at The Left Bank Writer’s Retreat in Paris, France. She has trained and worked as a professional mediator and has conducted her own freelance writing business.

Her poetry has been published in small journals and newspapers, presented in performance, and captured in photo-poetry journals. She is a professional painter and photographer.
