CIT Program at CFCC

CFCC’s Career Services department, in conjunction with the Technical and Vocational degree programs, will host the first annual CFCC Trade Show and Career Fair on March 30th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the BB&T Auditorium of the McKeithan Center.  Local employers will be on hand to speak with students from all Vocational/Technical degree programs. Throughout the day, several of the participating vendors will also provide demonstrations of technology used at their particular organizations. This fair is specific to the Vocational/Technical division of the college.  Employers that have been invited represent the workforce aspect of these programs.  Please try to make it to this fair – loads of opportunity!

Area technical coordinator technician position is available with the New Hanover County School system.  The position is full-time.

There is another Computer Technology Club meeting Thursday, February 3, 2010 in room NA-107 at 5pm at the North Campus of Cape Fear Community College.  Any CIT or CET major can join.  Also, if you aren’t a CIT or CET major, but taking computer courses at the college and are interested, please stop by.

This isn’t a true IT position, but I wanted to pass it on to others, nevertheless.  A part-time Administrative Assistant position is available at DREAMS, a small arts nonprofit serving youth.  The position will provide approximately 20 hours per week.  Duties include purchasing supplies, maintaining organizational calendar, compiling materials for grants submission, coordinating travel arrangements and other support activities as needed.   Those interested must have excellent computer, phone and people skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.  If you are considering this position know that you must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.  Experience with website maintenance is preferred, but not necessary.  A flexible schedule is a plus.  If you contact the organization for this position, please let Matthew Thomas know.  He is our CFCC Career and Job Placement Specialist at mthomas@cfcc.edu.
