Career Services at CFCC will host its annual Job Fair on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the McKeithan Center on the North Campus. Employers seeking to recruit students from our Public Service, Marine Technology, Business Technologies and Health Science departments will be on hand to accept resumes and speak with interested students. Students planning to attend should dress appropriately and bring copies of their resumes.

First Annual CFCC Trade Show and Career Fair

CFCC’s Career Services department, in conjunction with the Technical and Vocational degree programs, will host the first annual CFCC Trade Show and Career Fair on March 30th from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the BB&T Auditorium of the McKeithan Center.  Local employers will be on hand to speak with students from all Vocational/Technical degree programs. Throughout the day, several of the participating vendors will also provide demonstrations of technology used at their particular organizations. This fair is specific to the Vocational/Technical division of the college.  Employers that have been invited represent the workforce aspect of these programs.  Please try to make it to this fair – loads of opportunity!

Area technical coordinator technician position is available with the New Hanover County School system.  The position is full-time.

AS in computer science, electronics, or related field preferred. 1 year technology related work experience. A+ certification and valid North Carolina driver|s license. Functional knowledge of IBM/PC and Mac computers, operating systems, and related hardware, and of networking systems. Ability to troubleshoot computer problems determining hardware/software related issues and communicate technical issues to non-technical staff while displaying effective interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively administer, simultaneously, a variety of projects/activities. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences or proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals. Ability to work alone or supervise any number of personnel required to accomplish the assigned task. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Administrative Admin Part-time Job Opp

This isn’t a true IT position, but I wanted to pass it on to others, nevertheless.  A part-time Administrative Assistant position is available at DREAMS, a small arts nonprofit serving youth.  The position will provide approximately 20 hours per week.  Duties include purchasing supplies, maintaining organizational calendar, compiling materials for grants submission, coordinating travel arrangements and other support activities as needed.   Those interested must have excellent computer, phone and people skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.  If you are considering this position know that you must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.  Experience with website maintenance is preferred, but not necessary.  A flexible schedule is a plus.  If you contact the organization for this position, please let Matthew Thomas know.  He is our CFCC Career and Job Placement Specialist at mthomas@cfcc.edu.
