Google Apps are the best thing ever. I used Google Doc to create a tracking form to monitor our students progress thoughout our Career Pathways Academies. It really helped the instructors in a Team teach enviroment, because they could update and share information on each student. This process allowed the instuctors to coordinate their efforts to give the students much needed assistance and has sgnificantly increased their success rate. I have also used Google Calendar to maintain our classroom usage. Putting the assignments on the Calendar will move our team away from having to manually write this information on printed calendar pages that are kept in binders. Access/review capabilities will be available for everyone that needs it and from any location with computer access. Thanks you Bethann for the help and support you have given us…Great job!

Bethanne you have equipped the CFCC instructors with limitless tools and resources via a variety of applications within Google Apps. Most importantly for me was the use of the calendar and the ability to quickly create things in one place and sync them with my mobile devices. It has also enabled me to inform students having difficulty with purchasing expensive programs such as Microsoft Office suites, that there are other user friendly and free resources such as the apps within Google. It has also allowed our department to assess the desire and interest among the integration of e-books and other e-resources. As a result, e-books and other e-resources are now available in the CFCC bookstore for our department because the students told us what they wanted via Google Forms!!!! Thanks again Bethanne!

How has Google Apps made a positive impact on my teaching? Let me count the ways . . . As an English instructor who requires multiple drafts of essays, Google docs “share” and “edit” features allow for instantaneous commenting on drafts. Students and I can easily create dialogues about how to improve essays in real time. It makes peer review a breeze and students love feeling technologically savvy when they provide feedback for each other. I am also in the process of transforming all of my outdated Word documents into Googe docs, which is incredibly time-saving. Now, at the beginning of a semester, instead of having to change documents and re-upload them into Bb, I can just make the changes instantly in Google docs. Students have also used Google surveys in my Argument-Based Research class to quickly collect data for their group projects. I attend all of Bethanne’s workshops and look forward to implementing Google calendar into my repetoire this fall! Thanks for everything Bethanne!

I am all-in when it comes to Google app products. Starting with embedding the Google calendar into my website so 1 assignment changes will be sent out to 3 different classes to posting pre- and post-class notes into Google Drive to sending out class emails from Gmail contact list. There is probably not one thing that I do that does not involve a Google app product. I could also include Google Voice and YouTube apps helps me make my course more efficient and effective.

I love to use Google calendar and have completely abandoned my paper calendar. It is awesome to have access to my schedule 24/7 from anywhere! I also use Google forms all the time. It has made communication with students much easier. We have had surveys ranging from student input on changing uniform color to feedback and reflection about simulated clinical experiences. Utilizing Google forms allows the students a safe, anonymous way to give us honest feedback regarding their experience and it is all stored electronically instead of in my filing cabinet. Probably the most exciting thing that we are using it for is to gather and keep data for a potential research article looking at collaboration between ADN and PN students in simulated experiences focusing on scope of practice. Bethanne awesome and her excitement about the potential for Google apps in education is infectious!

Bethanne’s Google workshops have been integral in the continuing development of my courses, particularly my online courses. Now, students are able to produce and submit documents, work collaboratively, and interact with me, all based in one application. As Lead Instructor of English 111, Google Education has given me many great ideas on streamlining certain projects within the department, and has allowed me to share ideas with peers in an easy, accessible way.
I leave Google workshops refreshed in the knowledge that there are new, innovative paths my courses and departmental projects can take, and always look forward to returning to my office to put Google Education into action! And, it helps that Bethanne is a wealth of information just waiting to assist trainees at any time. She makes it all seem doable!

Bethanne is held in high esteem at our institution–she knows EVERYTHING about Google Apps and articulates her knowledge of Google Apps well. I have been to several of her “beginner” workshops, Google Docs for Beginners and Google Calendar, to name a couple. Her workshops are short and simple, covering generally one topic. She has a plan and sticks to it. She moves at a comfortable pace–no brain overload, and covers all the points on her outline.

I always come from her workshops enlightened to the possibilities and having learned something new. I now can collaborate with co-workers on inter-department projects via Google Docs, and I am able to share our area calendar with others via Google Calendar. These are tools I didn’t have before.

The information I have learned about Google Apps has been hands down the most useful information I have learned from any workshop, e-mail, article, conference in five years. I can work more efficiently, can collaborate more easily with my colleagues and when I create reports and surveys, my results look and are extremely professional. I love learning to work smarter not harder!

My Google Apps Testimony…I am a department secretary and have over 60 employees to keep up with, so I built an employee website to keep everyone up-to-date on everything that is going on within our department and college! I have easily embedded Google Documents, Calendars, Forms, pictures and much more on my websites. It has been such a huge help to our department that I also built a website for my Work-Study Students! Now, the whole department is on the same page, even though we are spread across two campuses! I love Google Apps, as they are user friendly and have helped to make us well organized!
