WILMINGTON – In May 2012, Wells Fargo continued its support of Cape Fear Community College by awarding a $5,000 grant for scholarships.

The Wells Fargo Foundation Annual Scholarship in Business is awarded to CFCC students enrolled in Business Programs or to students with a pre-major in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Marketing who plan to transfer to a four-year institution upon completion of the Associates of Arts degree.  Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit, and at least 51 percent of those receiving scholarships will be low to moderate income.

“Wells Fargo is committed to education in our communities,” said Randy Tomsic, Wells Fargo Wilmington Market President.

“We’re proud to partner with the CFCC Foundation to provide scholarships. We recognize the value that Cape Fear Community College provides to our region and to each individual it serves,” Tomsic said.

Wells Fargo’s contribution will help CFCC attract bright students who may not have been able to enroll otherwise, and it will enable more students to remain in school and successfully complete their programs of study.

“Scholarships help keep our retention rates steady,” said Melissa Watson, CFCC Business Department Chair.

“These vital funds enable our students to stay in school, graduate, and become successful, productive members of our community,” Watson said.

Wells Fargo supports organizations working to strengthen communities.  Through the efforts of enthusiastic team member-volunteers and contributions, Wells Fargo shares success within its communities by giving back to non-profits and educational institutions that address vital community needs and issues.  Wells Fargo directs its giving to areas it believes are important to the future of the nation’s vitality and success:  community development, education, and human services.

The Cape Fear Community College Foundation exists solely to support the students, instructors, programs and mission of the College. The Foundation secures and manages gifts and grants, including cash contributions, deferred gifts, securities, donated services, and equipment and supplies for educational purposes.
