Wells Fargo Continues to Fund Business Scholarships at CFCC
WILMINGTON – In May 2012, Wells Fargo continued its support of Cape Fear Community College by awarding a $5,000 grant for scholarships.
The Wells Fargo Foundation Annual Scholarship in Business is awarded to CFCC students enrolled in Business Programs or to students with a pre-major in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or Marketing who plan to transfer to a four-year institution upon completion of the Associates of Arts degree. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of merit, and at least 51 percent of those receiving scholarships will be low to moderate income.
“Wells Fargo is committed to education in our communities,” said Randy Tomsic, Wells Fargo Wilmington Market President.
“We’re proud to partner with the CFCC Foundation to provide scholarships. We recognize the value that Cape Fear Community College provides to our region and to each individual it serves,” Tomsic said.
Wells Fargo’s contribution will help CFCC attract bright students who may not have been able to enroll otherwise, and it will enable more students to remain in school and successfully complete their programs of study.
“Scholarships help keep our retention rates steady,” said Melissa Watson, CFCC Business Department Chair.
“These vital funds enable our students to stay in school, graduate, and become successful, productive members of our community,” Watson said.
