Hampstead Garden Club awards scholarship to CFCC Landscape Gardening Student
CFCC Landscape Gardening Student Christa Cook is the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from TheHampstead Garden Club.
Each year, the Hampstead Garden Club awards a scholarship to one student who has completed their first year of landscape gardening courses, obtained a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and has a need for financial assistance.
Christa Cook, winner of this year’s award, is a second year student. “I am honored to be the recipient of the Hampstead Garden Club scholarship. Their generosity puts me that much closer to graduation and to beginning a career in the field that I love,” says Cook.
“Christa is a dedicated student with a lot of talent,” says Ken Wells, Landscape Gardening Instructor at CFCC. “She has a lot on her plate – working and going to school, so I know this scholarship will certainly help her as she works to achieve her dreams.”
The Landscape Gardening program at CFCC emphasizes intensive, hands-on training in the field of horticulture to prepare students for careers. Course work includes plant propagation, greenhouse and nursery plant culture, plant identification, landscape planning, maintenance, and construction.
