How do I make a gift to the College?
The Foundation helps to underwrite nearly every element of the college’s mission. As the college grows, so does our need for your support. We urge you to join your neighbors and friends in recognizing that an investment in our students is an investment in our community.
Other Methods of Giving
We welcome your support and gifts are tax-deductible as allowed by federal law. The Foundation is a 501(3)(c) organization and we will acknowledge your gift with a receipt for tax purposes.

Gifts of securities such as stocks and IRA rollovers can offer attractive tax advantages to the donor. Speak to your financial advisor or accountant to learn about the benefits of donating securities. For more information, call (910)362-7207.
A bequest is a gift of money or property through a will. Charitable bequests often reduce or eliminate estate taxes. Discuss this option with your financial planner to learn how your legacy can support future CFCC students. For more information, call (910)362-7207. Remember, a bequest in your will is the easiest major gift you can make, it costs you nothing during your lifetime, and it provides financial support for students for generations to come. Learn more about how a bequest in your will can change the lives of CFCC students.
Gifts-in-kind are donated tangible and intangible assets and property. The most frequent examples include art, books, equipment, automobiles, boats inventory, personal property, and other physical assets or materials that represent value.
These gifts must be reviewed with special care to ensure their usefulness to the college’s programs. All gifts are subject to approval by the Executive Director of the Foundation prior to acceptance. For more information, call (910)362-7712.
Special Giving Opportunities
Many companies match charitable contributions made by their current or former employees or board members. This is an excellent means to multiply the amount of a gift. Donors provide the appropriate matching gift form for submission to the matching gift company. Donors receive full credit for both the original and the matching gift.
Establishing a scholarship is a relatively simple process which begins with a one-on-one meeting with a Foundation staff member who provides personal assistance in guiding donors through the development of their scholarship. Endowed scholarships are permanent, named funds. These funds are invested and a portion of the income generated is used to fund annual scholarship awards. Non-endowed scholarships are named, temporary funds. They are commonly called pass through scholarships and can be established with a gift of any size. They remain active as long as donors contribute to them. For both endowed and non-endowed funds, the first step is establishing scholarship criteria that capture a donor’s wishes. (Endowments at the $10,000 level provide general scholarship support. Endowments at $20,000 or higher allow a donor to define specific criteria for the scholarship award.) To begin the process of changing lives in your local community, please contact the Cape Fear Community College Foundation staff at 910.362.7207.
Gifts may be made to the College to honor or memorialize a friend, family member or loved one. Such gifts are acknowledged to the donor and to the person being honored or to the person’s family if he/she is being memorialized.
Names of donors fulfilling the following categories are displayed on brass plaques located in the lobby of the General Administration Building. These donors are also featured in the annual President’s Report publication.

A planned gift such as a bequest in your will can be the easiest major gift you could ever make. Planned gifts often cost you nothing during your lifetime and can help students for generations to come. Planned giving allows you the option of supporting the college financially without drawing on your current income. There are several options to consider including bequests, life insurance, charitable trusts and charitable annuities. These types of gifts ensure future funding for our students, but can also provide tax benefits to the donor now. Speak to your family attorney or tax advisor to find out which giving options are best for you.
