Guidelines for accepting a gift-in-kind

Prospective donors should be referred to the Foundation staff. It is important that we speak to the donor to collect information and explain the process before we agree to accept an item.

A department head or dean should determine if the property is appropriate for use by the college.

Any donation valued over $5,000 must undergo a certified appraisal before the item can be accepted. The donor is responsible for securing the appraisal.

The Foundation staff should be notified in advance of the time and place that the item will be delivered on campus.

The Foundation will record the donation information and provide the donor with any applicable receipts and/or tax forms.
