received an MA in English-Creative Writing with a Poetry Emphasis from Northern Arizona University (2007) and a BA in English and Spanish with minors in anthropology and women’s studies from Ball State University (2003). During the summer of 2011 she participated in a poetry workshop with poet Kim Addonizio as part of the Disquiet International Literary Program in Lisbon, Portugal. Additionally, she has studied abroad in Argentina, Spain, and Brazil.

Jada’s poetry has been published in Weave Magazine, Ink & Ashes, The MTCup Review, Barnwood Press Magazine, Talon Magazine, The Collared Peccary, Between the Lines, and Blast Furnace. Her poem “Shuttle Anthem: Atlanta International” was performed at CFCC’s Arts Poetica Festival in 2009, and in 2010 her poem “To Whom It May Concern” was made into a short film for the festival.

Before working as an English instructor at CFCC, Jada taught courses in composition, creative writing, and literature at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, as well as the Navajo Nation’s DinĂ© Community College in Tuba City, AZ. In 2003-04 she worked as an assistant teacher at an at-risk charter high school on the Pasqua Yaqui Reservation in Tucson, AZ.

Jada continues to work on her own writing and eat (too much) delicious food.
