On Wednesday, June 8, two artifacts from the World Trade Center will arrive into Wilmington from New York City. One of these artifacts belongs to Cape Fear Community College and the other belongs to the Wilmington Fire Department.
If you’d like to see these artifacts up close, the pieces will be on display temporarily in the Independence Mall parking lot near the main Oleander Dr. entrance. The pieces are expected to arrive at the mall at approximately 2:00 p.m. A short ceremony will be held from 2:30 – 3:00 p.m. Artifacts will be on display until 6 p.m.
CFCC’s artifact will be officially dedicated on Sept. 11, 2011 and permanently displayed at the Safety Training Center later this year.
