New Research on Younger Americans’ Library Habits & Expectations

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

The Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project has released the results of a survey conducted last fall on the library and reading habits of younger Americans, ages 16 to 29.  The survey found that almost all Americans under age 30 are online, and they are more likely than older patrons to use libraries’ computer and internet connections; however, they are also still closely bound to print, as three-quarters (75%) of younger Americans say they have read at least one book in print in the past year, compared with 64% of adults ages 30 and older.

Cape Fear Community College is involved in so many interesting things!

TV/Video Production Technician Travis Burdick was out on the RV Dan Moore with CFCC Marine Technology students and faculty as they helped archaeologists recover two cannons from the Pirate Blackbeard’s ship, The Queen Anne’s Revenge on June 20th, 2013.  Using our trusty GoPro, Travis created this time lapse video showing the recovery of the second cannon, sunk off the coast of Atlantic Beach, NC in 1718.
