Mary Murfee holds a M.A. in English from The University of Mississippi and a B.A. in English and Art History from Tulane University. She found her calling as a teacher in 1999 when she walked into her first classroom as a graduate instructor at Ole Miss. She has continued teaching and/or tutoring ever since. Among others, her positions have included UM Instructor in Composition, Writer-in-Residence for the Mississippi Arts Commission’s “AllWrite” GED preparation program, Strategic Studies instructor for UM’s Office of Student Athlete Academic Support, and Tutor/Mentor for OSAAS. In 2009-2010, she worked under UM’s Center for Writing and Rhetoric to rebuild and revamp the university’s Freshman Composition II course as a part of the overall Quality Enhancement Program instituted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Ms. Murfee is a new addition to CFCC’s English Department, having moved to Wilmington from Faulkner country (i.e. Oxford, MS) in August 2010. She’s thrilled with her new department and is looking forward to learning how to surf.
