CFCC to Help Smokers Kick the Habit
Cape Fear Community College will become a tobacco-free campus as a August 1, 2009. To help those CFCC employees and students who use tobacco products, CFCC will be offering support for those who wish to “kick the habit.”
CFCC’s Tobacco-Free Campus Cessation Assistance Committee will sponsor several on-campus events to support employees who want to quit the use of tobacco.
The first activity is a “Lunch and Learn,” program scheduled for 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, in Room L-107, Downtown Campus. The event will also be held at the North Campus on Tuesday, March 31 from 11:30 – 1:00 p.m. in the BB&T auditorium.
The programs will feature a dialogue with faculty, students and staff, led by peers who have successfully eliminated tobacco use in their lives.
In addition, any employee can call the NC Quitline at 1-800-QUIT-NOW (800-784-8669). A quit tobacco specialist will assist you with quitting, goal setting, medication questions and locating local tobacco cessation resources. Quit specialists can also make follow-up support calls.
