Regions Bank and Morgan Keegan Establish Endowed Scholarship

Regions Bank and Morgan Keegan recently established the Regions Bank/Morgan Keegan Endowed Scholarship at Cape Fear Community College. The $15,000 endowment was founded by Mr. Allen Clayton of Regions Bank and Ms. Frances Goodman of Morgan Keegan. The scholarship will be awarded in the fall of 2010 to deserving CFCC students majoring in business, with a concentration in finance or banking.

Goodman says, “We are proud to support Cape Fear Community College and to celebrate their ongoing success in providing training and education for students of all ages and backgrounds, especially during these difficult economic times.” Clayton adds, “We are excited about our partnership with Cape Fear Community College. CFCC is an integral part of the economic success for our area and we look forward to our continued support.”

As subsidiaries of Regions Financial Corporation, Regions Bank and Morgan Keegan are partnered with a member of the Forbes Magazine’s “Platinum 400” list of America’s best big companies. With $141 billion in assets, Regions is one the nation’s largest full-service providers of consumer and commercial banking, trust, securities brokerage, mortgage and insurance products and services.

Cape Fear Community College is one of the oldest and largest schools in the North Carolina community college system. Approximately 27,000 students take courses at CFCC each year, and a significant portion of CFCC alumni reside in Wilmington. Studies show that for each dollar spent on educating CFCC students, more than $2.36 is returned to the local community.
