The executive committee of the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees met in a public session at 2:00 this afternoon to discuss the search process to find the next college president.
Today, the group heard remarks from Dr. Donny Hunter, President/CEO of the N.C. Association of Community College Trustees, who described the basic hiring process, legal obligations, and made several recommendations to help guide the process.
Dr. Hunter explained that having an open search with input from faculty, staff and students at the college and representatives of the local community would be very helpful in finding the most qualified candidate.
CFCC Board Chairman Bruce Williams agreed.
“We are a community college. We want this search to be transparent, open and inclusive,” Williams said.
The committee is expected to make several recommendations concerning the presidential search process to the full board of trustees meeting on Monday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. N.C. Community College System President Scott Ralls is expected to attend the meeting.
Current CFCC President Eric McKeithan will be retiring from his position on June 30, 2012.
