Cape Fear Community College will hold a “Small Business Night” at the CFCC basketball game on Wed., Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Schwartz Center in downtown Wilmington.
A variety of local small businesses will be in the Schwartz Center lobby to promote their services before tip-off and at halftime. Each of the participating businesses got started after consulting with CFCC’s Small Business Center (SBC).
Doug Tarble, coordinator of the CFCC Small Business Center, said that the purpose of the event is to help new businesses promote themselves to the public. Tarble explained that it is very common for new businesses not to have enough capital to advertise, so the game is a great opportunity for these companies to meet with the general public for free.
The mission of the CFCC Small Business Center is to increase the success rate and number of profitable small businesses in New Hanover and Pender counties. The SBC provides a variety of free services to small businesses and prospective business owners, including:
- Seminars/classes to prospective and existing small business owners.
- Free, confidential one-on-one business and technology counseling.
- Access to an extensive Business Resource Library of training videos, business planning and web-editing software, business books and pamphlets.
