The Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees have selected Dr. G. Frank Sells to serve as the college’s interim president.
As interim president, Dr. Sells will serve as CFCC’s lead administrator while college trustees continue to search for a permanent replacement for outgoing president Dr. Eric McKeithan, who will retire on June 30.
The position of interim president will be a familiar role for Dr. Sells. He has decades of experience in educational leadership and last year served as the interim president at Brunswick Community College.
“I think Dr. Sells will be an excellent leader of the college until a permanent replacement can be found,” said Bruce Williams, chairman of CFCC’s Board of Trustees.
Previously, Dr. Sells served as the president of Surry Community College in Dobson, N.C. from 1999-2008. Before working with the community colleges in North Carolina, Dr. Sells served as associate superintendent and superintendent for Stokes County Schools. He was a teacher and principal at Roanoke County Schools in Virginia.
Dr. Sells holds an Ed. D. in school administration from Virginia Tech, an Ed. S. from Appalachian State University, a master’s degree from East Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree from Milligan College in Tennessee.
Dr. Sells will begin on July 1, 2012 and will serve until a permanent CFCC president is selected and begins working at the college.
CFCC trustees will be accepting applications for a permanent president through May 16, 2012.
