CFCC’s Student-Built House Up for Auction on Saturday

A unique student project is going up for auction this weekend at Cape Fear Community College. A 1,000 square-foot house built by students in CFCC’s carpentry program will be auctioned off on Saturday, August 11 at 10 a.m. The house is located at 2210 Sidbury Rd. at CFCC’s North Campus in Castle Hayne.
Students built the house over the course of three semesters and finished the work earlier this summer.
The exterior of the house is planked with cedar siding and has a large front porch. Interior features include three bedrooms, two full baths, and a roughed in mechanical system including an installed evaporator, duct system and condenser. The house meets the rough in requirements of the New Hanover Building Inspectors.
Proceeds of the sale will go back into the carpentry program, which gives students hands-on training in residential construction.
For more details or to schedule an appointment to see the house, please contact Josh Padgett at (910) 362-7291 or email jpadgett@cfcc.edu.
