CFCC trustees vote to grant land for new public park in Burgaw

A new park will be coming to Burgaw soon, thanks to a recent decision by the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees.
The board voted yesterday to grant the town an easement of approximately 10 acres of property next to CFCC’s Burgaw Center. The land is located next to the college’s classroom facilities on Industrial Drive and will be developed into a public park.
CFCC President Dr. G. Frank Sells applauded the decision and says that it will be mutually beneficial to both parties.
“This is a real win-win for the community and our students,” Dr. Sells said. He added that he feels the park will enhance the area around the campus and provide an attractive outdoor space for both students and visitors.
Burgaw Town Manager Chad McEwen expressed his appreciation to the trustees for their support of the project and said that the he expects the park to be open within the next six months.
“This park will be great addition to the town and the college,” McEwen said.
Located at 100 E. Industrial Drive, CFCC’s Burgaw Center offers a variety of continuing education classes and is also home to the Pender County Early College High School.
