CFCC to honor legacy of fallen National Guardsman at pinning ceremony

Cape Fear Community College students will honor the memory of a former student who died in Iraq while serving with the National Guard.
Students in CFCC’s Occupational Therapy Assisting program will present the family of Jocelyn Carrasquillo with an honorary award to celebrate his memory. Carrasquillo was enrolled at CFCC to become an occupational therapy assistant but was killed by a roadside bomb while on active duty in Iraq in 2004. Carrasquillo was only two months away from graduation at the time.
Carrasquillo’s award will become an annual award to recognize a current CFCC student who demonstrates outstanding performance and dedication to the study of occupational therapy.
The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 7 from 4 – 5 p.m. in the BB&T auditorium at CFCC’s North Campus. A reception for the family and students begins at 3 p.m.
