Earlier this year, Cape Fear Community College opened a new barber training school to provide students with the skills to become a professional barber.

The school is now open for businesses and is looking for clients.

Walk-ins are welcome from Monday – Thursday between 10:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. For an appointment, call 362-7692. A full list of services and prices are listed here: http://cfcc.edu/ce/barberschool/services.html.

The CFCC barber school is located in Emerald Square at 3333 Wrightsville Ave.

A total of 21 students are currently enrolled in the program, which includes a combination of traditional lecture and hands-on training. Over the course of 12-14 months, classes prepare students for the North Carolina Board Exam which will result in an apprentice license. Upon completion of the program, successful graduates will be qualified to work in an entry level position in a professional barbershop.

After one year of apprenticeship following the program, graduates will be eligible to take the N.C. state exam to receive his or her N.C. Registered Barber License.
