Computers for Beginners – Apr. 1

This 8 week course will introduce the computer and its hardware and software to the beginning user. Using MS Office 2007 Word and a brief introduction to Excel, the student will learn to create documents, save files, cut, paste, edit, and print. The student will also learn the basics of setting up a spreadsheet. Using email toolbars and setting up an email account will also be learned in this introductory class. Class is April 1-May 20, 2010, Thursdays, 6:00-9:00 p.m., on the North Campus, room NA-204. Cost $73; seniors $8. Payment will be taken on the first night of class and parking decals will be issued. Bank Teller Training – Apr. 5

This course is designed to teach the basic functions of the banking industry, define teller’s responsibilities and explain and perform a variety of daily transaction procedures. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to handle checks, process transactions, provide quality customer service, and provide proper bank service. Class is April 5-May 12, 2010, Monday and Wednesday, 6:00-9:00 p.m., on the Downtown Campus, room L-325. Payment: Due on or before first day of class. You can stop by our office at 805 North 3rd St., Downtown Wilmington, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm to register and pay. MS Excel 2007-Intermediate – Apr. 1

This course if for anyone currently working with 2007 MS Excel or has completed a 2007 basic Excel class. Upon successful completion of this course students will demonstrate the ability to edit, view and print worksheets; format cells; add graphics; utilize templates & protecting workbooks; and create tables & outlines. This course is not for a first-time Microsoft Excel 2007 user. Class is April 1-April 27, 2010, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00-9:00 p.m., on the Downtown campus, room S-503. Cost $73; seniors $8. Basic Digital Photography I-Point and Shoot – Apr. 13

With spring and summer approaching, what better time of the year to learn how to use your camera! Mother’s day, graduations, weddings, birthdays, etc. are all special occasions to photograph and reproduce. This 4 week course will teach you how to use your camera, take better pictures, and reproduce them for you and your loved ones. Bring your camera and owner’s manual to each class. The instructor makes the class fun and provides a vast amount of knowledge in photography. Class is April 13-May 6, 2010, Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00-9:00 p.m., on the CFCC North Campus, room NB-238. CFCC to Offer New Rowing Class

Later this month, Cape Fear Community College will offer a new class for people interested in rowing. Entitled, Rowing on the River: An Introductory Course in Recreational Rowing, the class is a four-session introduction to rowing, held in partnership with the Cape Fear River Rowing Club. The course will provide students with the knowledge and skills required to participate safely as a member of a rowing crew. There will be some classroom participation, but the majority of the course will be on the water.

The class will start on March 22 and run through April 7. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Students must be able to swim at least 50 feet and possess enough upper body strength to return to a rowing boat after entering the water. (test NOT required)

Students should wear athletic clothing, appropriate to weather conditions, which allows freedom of leg and arm motion. Socks are required. For more information, contact Morris Elsen at melsen@cfcc.edu or call 362-7301. Class size is limited to eight students.

This course is designed to provide accurate, up-to-date information for all levels of employees on all aspects of handling food. Course topics include: providing safe food, the micro-world, contamination and food allergies, purchasing and receiving food, food storage, sanitation principles, pest management, and NC Food Safety Regulations.
