From:Â San Diego, California
High School:Â University of San Diego High School, Class of 1989
Major:Â Medical Office Administration
Hobbies/Interests:Â I have three children ages 21, 18, 17 so my major hobby is motherhood. My husband loves to cook and I love to eat, so we are a great pair.
Last year I had to do a service learning project for Mrs. Brown’s COM120 class, I loved it so much I’m still doing it! I’ve been helping out at Coastal Therapeutic Riding Program. I do farm chores and help out with horseback riding lessons for kids with special needs. It’s amazing!
Why Ambassador:Â I saw the email saying that the Foundation was accepting applications. I checked the ambassador job description and realized I was already being an ambassador for my school. Now I’m official. We have a great team; we get to have fun and help our fellow students and school at the same time.
Why did you choose CFCC: In December 2011, I had a full time job but was not happy with my field. I hadn’t been in school in 20 years and was previously a terrible student. I never would have considered a four year school; too expensive and too scary! If Wilmington didn’t have a community college I would have been out of luck. However, CFCC is welcoming and a great place to explore options. I have taken classes on both campuses and online. Talk about a learning curve, when I was in high school we had typewriters, now I’m taking online classes!
As of September 2013, I have a 3.6 GPA and my choice of career fields!
In 10 years, I want to be helping people in a geriatric, mental health or veteran setting.
