Student veterans invited to participate in CFCC’s Veteran’s Day ceremony
Cape Fear Community College invites all local veterans to attend CFCC’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 11 at 12 noon in Tabitha’s Courtyard at the downtown Wilmington Campus. The courtyard is located behind the General Administration Building at the corner of Front and Walnut Street.
At the ceremony, officials will recognize each of the armed forces with their service anthem. Men and women that have served in our nations conflicts going back to WWII will also be recognized.
“It is a dignified and traditional ceremony and we hope local veterans and their families will be able to join us, “said Bob Philpott, CFCC’s veterans services coordinator.
According to Philpott, CFCC has over 500 student veterans that attend the college and the numbers have been increasing in recent years.
“As our men and women are returning from their service to our country, many are choosing to get their education with CFCC. We are honored to serve them,” Philpott said.
To help raise funds for a scholarship for student veterans, the college is holding a fund raiser as a part of this event. CFCC will make available “Honor Flags” to honor family, friends and loved ones that have served the country. Each flag costs $10 and will have the honorees name on its staff and be placed in the courtyard. All proceeds will go to our student veteran’s scholarship.
After the ceremony guests may take the flag as a memento to the person they are honoring.
To order a flag, please contact the CFCC Foundation office at 362-7207 or email rphilpott@cfcc.edu.
