Cooperative Innovative High Schools

A cooperative innovative high school, or early college, is a small public high school located on a college campus that offers incoming ninth graders the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree within four to five years.

Cape Fear Community College hosts Pender Early College and Wilmington Early College, public high schools that strive to recruit students who are looking for a learning experience that is different from the traditional high school. Students apply for the early college during their eighth grade year.

Application Process:

Interested eighth graders and their families should contact their middle school counselors for more information regarding admissions to Pender Early College High School or Wilmington Early College High School.
