Firefighter Training Center

(Computer Based Training)

NC State Firefighter I & II Certification

In the constantly evolving world of the fire service it is essential that firefighters train to overcome the hazards they face while performing their duties. With this increased need for training comes an increase in the demand placed on a firefighter’s time.
The Computer Lab is a potential solution for those who are unable to receive training through traditional course offerings.

Students who visit the training center cover materials and objectives required for certification as a North Carolina Firefighter I & II. Learning is at the student’s own pace utilizing interactive software. Each course reviews materials and information required to meet the certification objectives. Students take module tests on the computer to ensure their understanding of the course concepts. A certified NC Fire Service Instructor is always present to assist with any questions regarding the software or course materials presented.

Upon successful completion of the computerized training, students are eligible to take the practicals and written tests. These state certification tests are held on a monthly basis at CFCC North Campus Safety Training Center.  Students are provided with practicals to study in preparation for testing and are encouraged to review the Essentials of Firefighting manual. On the scheduled test date students eligible to test will complete the practical and written examinations with NC Fire Service Instructors. Test results are mailed within two weeks of testing.

NOTE: All NC Firefighter Level I & II courses are available in the training center except Emergency Medical Care and Hazardous Materials.
