Marine Captain’s OUPV License Preparation

This course provides students with the information necessary to take the US Coast Guard examination for licensing as an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) up to 100 gross tons. The examination is then administered as a separate class section upon conclusion of this course. Wilmington Campus, 64 hours 

Marine Captain’s OUPV License Exam

This class consists of the administration of the Coast Guard’s Marine Captain’s License exam. You must complete the 64 hour Marine Captain’s OUPV License Preparation Course prior to taking the exam. Wilmington Campus, 8 hours

Upgrade to Master’s License Preparation

This course provides students with the information necessary to take the US Coast Guard upgrade examination for a Master’s License for vessels up to 100 gross tons. The examination is then administered as a separate class section upon conclusion of this course. Wilmington Campus, 24 hours

Upgrade to Master’s License Exam

This class consists of the administration of the Coast Guard’s Marine Master’s License exam. You must complete the 24 hour Upgrade to Master’s License Preparation Course prior to taking the exam. Wilmington Campus, 8 hours

Assistance Towing Endorsement

This course is provided for students who have attained, or are in the process of obtaining their US Coast Guard Captain’s or Mate’s License for vessels of 200 gross tons or less. This course serves in lieu of taking an Assistance Towing examination at any US Coast Guard Regional Examination Center. Wilmington Campus, 4 hours

Celestial Navigation

This course covers the theory and technique of finding one’s position at sea through sextant observations of celestial bodies. Wilmington Campus, 36 hours

Small Boat Trailering, Launching and Recovery

Through hands-on practice and instruction this course will cover the basics of backing a boat trailer and the launching and recovery of a small boat. Wilmington Campus, 10 hours

Boat Handling and Seamanship Basics

Through class room and on-the-water boat training, students will learn the skills necessary for safe small boat operation. Wilmington Campus, 14 hours
