Emergency Medical Services

Fall 2014 Intermediate (AEMT) Initial Training

  • Dates: August 18, 2014 – December 15, 2014
  • Days:  Monday and Thursday
  • Time:  9:00AM  - 1:00PM
  • Location:  North Campus Room NA237

Registration Process:  

Students will register the first day of class.  Registration and insurance fees are due at the time of registration.  Cutoff for registration is August21, 2014.

Registration Fees:

  • $180 Registration Fee (unless fee exempt)
  • $15  Insurance Fee (all students must pay insurance)
  • Registration will be completed at the first class meeting.
  • All fees must be paid at time of registration or  the first class meeting . Payment is via money order, cashier’s check or credit card only.  

Registration Requirements:

  • At least 17 years of age
  • Provide a copy of high school diploma or GED
  • Provide a copy of driver’s license or valid government issued photo ID
  • Copy of current EMT-B card
  • Copy of current Healthcare Provider CPR card
  • Completed AccuPlacer testing results indicating minimum required levels in reading comprehension, sentence structure/skills and math.
  • Required Scores on Testing Are:
    • Reading                     79 or higher
    • Sentence Skills          85 or higher
    • Math                          55 or higher

Textbooks

Textbook packages will be available at the CFCC North Campus Bookstore.    If you choose to purchase elsewhere,  you must have:

  • AAOS AEMT Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured (required)  
  • AAOS AEMT Navigate Course Manager (required)
  • Cost approximately $170

 

Clinical Costs:

Requirements for clinical participation are set in conjunction with our clinical partners.  In order to participate in the field internship required to complete the course, you should expect to incur costs for the following:

  •   Clinical Uniform Shirt (~$25 in CFCC Bookstore)
  •  Clinical Uniform Pants ($25 – $150 depending on student choices)
  •  Clinical Uniform Boots ($25 – $200 depending on student choices)
  •  Cromprehensive Background Check and 9-panel Drug Screen ($90 mandatory thru CFCC provider)
  •  TB PPD Test (Average cost of ~ $35)
  •  Hepatitis B Vaccination (Average cost of $100 per injection for those who need full series)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine (~ $25 depending on location)
  • Proof of childhood immunizations (MMR)

 

* Several changes were made governing Fee Exempt status with the 2011-2012 NC Budget.  If you feel you would be fee exempt, please contact us prior to registration to verify your eligibility.

Students may register at the North Campus, McKeithan Building, room NA-241 from August 25, 2014 until August 28, 2014 from 10 AM until 3PM.  Registration and insurance fees are due at the time of registration.  Payment is via money order, cashier’s check or credit card only.  Registration cutoff date is September 2, 2014.

  • Time: 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
