EMS Upcoming Fall Classes

Anatomy and Physiology
This online course meets NCOEMS requirements for anatomy and physiology for a paramedic certification class.  This course is scheduled to start in August 2015.  Textbook is the Essentials of A&P from Brady Publishing.  Registration fee is $180 unless exemption applies.

EMS Instructor Methodology
This course meets NCOEMS requirements for Level I/II instructor credential.  This is an online class that allows the student for their presentations to be submitted through Blackboard or in a face to face setting.  This course is schedule to start in September 2015.  Textbook required is the Foundations for the Practice of EMS Education by Melissa Alexander (Brady Publishing)  Call for more information.  Registration fee is $180 unless exemption applies.

EMT-B to EMT Transition Online Course (3202)-August 10 – September 18th
This course meets NCOEMS requirements for transition from EMT-Basic to EMT. This course is 16 hours in length and is entirely online.  Registration fee is $70 unless exemption applies.

FALL EMT Initial Training  AT SURF CITY CAMPUS

Dates: August 18 through December 10, 2015
Days: Tuesday-Thursday and Saturday  9/8, 9/19, 11/7 and 12/5
Time:   1800-2200
Location: Surf City  Campus Room 103

Registration Process: Students may pre-register early at the North Campus, McKeithan Building, room NA-241 the week prior to class starting (week of 8/10th) from 9am until 4pm.  We accept cash, money order, check, or credit card payments. We will also accept registrations on the first night of class.

Registration Fees:

–      $180.00 Registration fee
(Fire, Rescue, & Military may be exempt)
–      $15.00 Insurance fee required by all students
*Fees must be paid at time of registration!!!

Registration Requirements:

–      Must be at least 17 years of age
–      Bring the following to your first day of class:

  • Copy of high school diploma or GED, or College
  • Provide a Copy of driver’s license or valid, government issued photo ID.

Textbook Costs:

–      Textbook package available at the CFCC North Campus Bookstore for approximately $130. This package includes all required texts. If you choose to purchase  elsewhere, you must have:

  • AAOS Emergency Care and transportation of the Sick and Injured, 10th Edition
  • AAOS EMT Navigate Course Manager

Clinical Costs:

Requirements for clinical participation are set in conjunction with our clinical partners. In order to participate in the field internship required to complete the course, you should expect to incur costs for the following:

–      Clinical Uniform Shirt ($10 in CFCC Bookstore)
–      Clinical Uniform Pants ($25-$50 depending on student choices)
–      Clinical Uniform Boots ($25-$50 depending on student choices)
–      Comprehensive Background Check/9-panel Drug Screen ($90 mandatory thru CFCC provider)
–      TB PPD Test ($35 Average Cost)
–      Hepatitis B Vaccination ($100 Average cost per injection for those who need full series)
–      Proof of childhood immunizations (MMR) and Chicken Pox

Clinical requirements are those of our EMS Providers with which you will attend 2/12 hour field internship.

Dates: May 18-July 30, 2015
Days: Monday-Thursday

Location: CFCC North Campus Room NA-103

Registration Process: Students may register early at the North Campus, McKeithan Building, room NA-241 from 8:30am-12:30pm May 4th, 5th, 7th, 11th, 12th, & 14th. We accept cash, money order, check, or credit card payments. We will also accept registrations on the first day of class.

–      $15.00 Insurance fee required by all students

EMS Upcoming Classes

EMT Basic Hybrid Refresher-May 25-July 3
The EMT Basic refresher will include all the EMT B transition material.  This course will be 63 yours which includes two classroom dates (6 hours for the EMT basic skills & one day 6 hours for patient assessment review) and a written exam. Registration fee is $180 unless exemption applies.  Required pre-registration will be May 19th-22nd.
