Cape Fear Community College’s men’s and women’s soccer teams will play their 2016 home games at Legion Stadium beginning this fall. The move to Legion Stadium, the 6,000 seat home of the Wilmington Hammerheads, is part of CFCC’s efforts to grow its soccer program and provide the highest quality facilities for its student athletes.
“We are excited to partner with the City of Wilmington,” said CFCC Director of Athletics Ryan Mantlo. “They have been wonderful to work with and it’s a terrific partnership. Playing at Legion Stadium will enhance the game day experience not only for the athletes but spectators as well.”
The 2016 season begins mid-August, with CFCC’s women’s soccer team scheduled to play nine home games in the stadium, including the CFCC Port City Classic, August 27-28. CFCC’s men’s soccer team will play their season opener onSeptember 3 against Richard Bland College at Legion Stadium, as well as six other games.
“We are very happy to call Legion Stadium home,” said Sea Devils Women’s Soccer Head Coach Ryan Deppa. “We not only want to represent CFCC, but also Wilmington, and this central location is a very positive move in that direction for our department.
