GED Test Information
Testing is usually on Wednesdays and Thursdays of each month. It takes approximately a month to get all of your test results. Please allow adequate time to receive your results for school and job requirements.
All persons taking the GED for the first time must take and pass the GED pre-test before taking the GED test. Please contact the Basic Skills Office at (910) 362-7141 for information.
Individuals must come prepared, and if applicable, must have all proper paperwork in order. The GED office considers special needs accommodations made in advance, with proper documentation.
Bring these items on the day of testing:
- a photo ID (driver's license ok)
- admission slip
- social security number
Conditional Admission
A minor 16 or 17 years of age, having officially withdrawn from a North Carolina public school or home school is admitted to testing under the following conditions:
- The application for testing is supported by a notarized petition from the minor's parent, legal guardian, or other person or agency having legal custody and control over the minor. The petition certifies the minor's residence, date of birth, date the minor officially withdrew from school, address of the school last attended, and the petitioner's legal relationship to the minor
- Application is made no less than six months from the date the minor officially withdrew from school. No withdrawal or waiver is required from the school.
- All or any part of the six-month period is waived by the local superintendent (or designee) of the public school systems of chief administrative school officer of the private school or home school where the minor last attended school. A withdrawal or waiver notice is required.
Individuals who are minors are not allowed to test without the above stated materials.
