Getting Started In Your Hybrid/Internet Course

Welcome to Distance Learning!  Our Hybrid/Internet courses are administered through Blackboard (Bb), our Course Management System (CMS). All you need to do to "enter" your online class is follow the steps below. NOTE: Hybrid courses meet face-to-face in addition to the online portion of the class. Please see the DL Schedule of Classes for meeting dates and times.

Step 1: Determine your Blackboard Username and Password

If you already know your Blackboard Username and Password, you can skip to Step 2.

Username:

Look up your Username here: 'What's my Username?'.

Initial Password:

To set up your initial Password, click  "What's my Password?"

You will need to know your student ID #, which can be found on your student ID card, your schedule or receipts from the college.

Step 2: Login to Blackboard

Logging in and entering your course means you are 'attending' the class even if you just take a look around - you are considered a participating student.

You must login/enter your class before the census date
The census date for all DL classes (Hybrid/Internet) corresponds to the 75% tuition refund date found on the academic calendar.

First day to login

Instructors may post assignments in their courses beginning the first day of semester at CFCC, so login as soon as possible so you do not get behind in your course!

Last day to login

You must login and/or 'attend' your class (Hybrid/Internet classes) by the 75% tution refund date or you will be a No Show (NS) in your course.

Click here to login to Blackboard. You may want to bookmark this website for easy access.
Click on the Login icon, this will take you to the login screen.
Enter your username and password from Step 1.

If you have problems logging in, double check the username and password that you entered then re-enter the information.

If you are still unable to log in, contact the Blackboard Help Desk.

Step 3: Complete the student tutorial in Blackboard

Complete the student tutorial in Blackboard. This is not a graded activity but will help familiarize you with Blackboard courses. After you login to Blackboard, you will see a module called "My Courses". This contains a list of all of the courses for which you are registered (they will become available on the first day of class) and a link to the Student Tutorial. Click on this link to open the tutorial. You will see instructions on the announcement page.

Step 4: Distance Learning Basics

Read the Distance Learning Basics: Skills for being a successful online student (pdf), which is included in the Blackboard Student Tutorial.

Step 5: Locate your class in Blackboard

Return to the My Institution or Courses tab to then access your course. Your courses will be listed on the right side of the page under "My Courses".

Step 6: Enter your class

To "enter" your class, click on the course name (see above in Step 3). This will take you "inside" your class.
Now you are considered a participating student.

Once you login to your class, you must officially withdraw if you decide not to attend.

Step 7: Read carefully and follow your instructor's directions

Most Blackboard classes open to the Announcements page (see example below).
