Add Test Student in Courses
Instructors can now add a test student account in their courses, which allows viewing from a student perspective. It's as simple as clicking a button and choosing a password.
Create and Enroll Test Students
- Log into course with your instructor account.
- Under Course Tools in the Control Panel, select the "Add Test Student" link. (If you do not see the link, navigate to Customization and Tool Availability in the Control Panel; select "Add Test Student" and then select "Submit" to save the change).
- Select "Add Test Student"
- If the account does not yet exist, you will be asked to create it. The test student username will be the same as your instructor username with _s at the end. For example, an instructor with the username stingray844 will have a test student account with the username stingray844_s. Type in a password that you will remember.
- If this test account already exists, a button will be provided to add that account to the course if it has not been enrolled.
- If the account is already enrolled in the course, the instructor can select a button to unenroll it. This will delete any work done by that test student.
- After making changes, select the "Go Back to Course Home Page" button to return to the home page for the course.
- If the account does not yet exist, you will be asked to create it. The test student username will be the same as your instructor username with _s at the end. For example, an instructor with the username stingray844 will have a test student account with the username stingray844_s. Type in a password that you will remember.
Using Your Test Student Account
- After enrolling the test student in your courses, you can now login to your courses as a student. The best way to do this is to use two different web browsers (i.e. Firefox and Safari). Log into the course as an instructor in one, and a student in the other to work in both roles at the same time.
- Important: The CFCC Acceptable Use Policy applies to the test student account, as it does with your instructor account. The password should not be shared with others since they will have access to any course in which this test student is enrolled.
- If more than one instructor requires a test student in the course, each should enroll their own test student account.
- An instructor cannot create multiple test student accounts.
