Minimum Computer Requirements for Hybrid and Internet Classes:
Hybrid and Internet classes house all or part of the course content on a server that the student can access through the Internet.
To enroll in the class, a student will need the following hardware and software:
- Reliable off-campus access to a computer (PC or Mac).
- Internet access and a compatible browser (compatible versions chart)
- MAC Users: You are encouraged to use Mozilla Firefox to access you courses. (See compatible versions chart)
- Note: AOL users should not use the built-in AOL browser; connect to AOL, then close the AOL browser and use an external browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE) preferred or Mozilla Firefox.
Students are expected to be competent in basic computer skills such as:
- Copying and pasting material into a document;
- Saving, attaching and printing documents;
- Composing, retrieving, and sending emails;
- Surfing the web; and
- Protecting the computer against viruses (See the Student Computer Resources page for software suggestions).
Warning: Blackboard is not compatible with Internet Explorer 8 or Firefox 3.X
- We recommend if you are running Internet Explorer 7, do not upgrade to IE8.
- If you are already using IE8, Download Internet Explorer 7.
- This link will show you how to uninstall IE8, if you are running Vista or XP: Uninstall Internet Explorer 8.
- In addition you can use Firefox 2.X, but not the current 3.X versions.
