Assessment and Evaluation of the Technology Plan
Evaluation and reporting of results are critical steps toward the development
of ongoing technology efforts and the
successful revisions of the Technology Plan. Evaluation of this plan
will be an ongoing, continual process. The Technology Committee will
meet on a regular basis to assess progress toward meeting its goals.
In addition, the committee will reevaluate the goals as they relate to
the current and future needs of the college. It will be the responsibility
of the committee to recommend modifications to the plan.
Success will be determined by:
acheiving the learning
goals outlined in the Technology Goals section.
achieving funding
at the levels indicated in the plan.
integration and implementation
of computer technology in the classroom.
successful implementation
of goals
The college will conduct an annual survey of faculty, students, and staff to determine their level of confidence using technology in the classroom, level of perceived technology integration into the curriculum, training needs, and level of student competency related to Technology Goals outlined in this plan. The Technology Committee will review the findings of the surveys to determine how the plan should be adjusted. The Technology Committee will conduct an annual review of the plan and progress toward goals.
Areas to be assessed:
technological
climate in the college
faculty technology
needs, concerns and recommendations
how technology
tools are utilized
relationship
between the technology activities used and the curriculum
frequency of
student and faculty use
software and
hardware needs
current or anticipated
limitations of existing technology
skill development
of staff
skill development
of students
difficulties
encountered in integrating technology into the classroom
review and update
of equipment and software
Assessment Survey
The Technology Committee will use these criteria to determine when recommendations
for adjustments to the plan should be made. The committee will report
progress toward goals and present recommendations for modifications of
the plan at a regularly scheduled meeting.
CFCC has not yet developed a survey to evaluate a plan, but I would recommend the following:
A. The Strategic Plan Document
Is the plan clear and understandable?
Is the plan comprehensive?
Is the plan realistic?
Is the plan informative?
Will the plan be relatively easy to modify?
Has the plan been followed?
Will the plan continue to be adjusted and used in the future?
B. Administration
Do CFCC administrators believe the plan helps them to better discharge
responsibilities?
Do administrators feel the plan is useful to them?
Overall, are the benefits of the plan perceived to be worth the costs
of development?
Are administrators committed to following the plan?
C. Does the Technology Plan Address the Following Issues:
CFCC Mission?
CFCC Vision Statement?
CFCC Institutional Goals?
Future opportunities?
Future threats?
CFCC strengths?
CFCC weaknesses?
Development of long-range objectives?
Development of long-range strategies?
Development of creditable medium- and short-range plans to implement
strategies, so as to achieve goals?
D. Technology Plan Benefits
Has the plan improved the quality of administration?
Has the plan improved the quality of the teaching/learning environment?
How is technology integrated into educational settings?
How are new electronic resources interpreted and adapted by their users?
How can we best match technological capacities with students' learning
needs?
How can technology serve as a tool for planning, analyzing, and managing
information?
How can technology serve as a catalyst for school improvement?
How does technology impact learning and teaching, especially student
achievement?
Rate each question from 1 to 5,
1 indicating not as effective while 5 indicates very effective.
Has the plan improved the quality of communications within the institution?
Has the plan improved the quality of collaboration within the institutions?
Has the plan better positioned the institution for future change?
Is there more access to and availability of technology because of the plan?
Have technology policies and procedures improved as a result of the plan?
Have computer literacy skills improved as a result of the plan?
Do you think the overall environment at CFCC has improved as a result of the plan?
Has the budget process and communication of the budget improved as a result of the plan?
