The English Department also offers the following courses to help students prepare for college-level work.

DRE 096: Integrated Reading and Writing I

This course is designed to develop proficiency in specific integrated and contextualized reading and writing skills and strategies. Topics include reading and writing processes, critical thinking strategies, and recognition and composition of well-developed, coherent, and unified texts; these topics are primarily taught at the introductory level using texts primarily in a Lexile™ range of 960 to 1115.

DRE 097: Integrated Reading and Writing II

This course is designed to develop proficiency in integrated and contextualized reading and writing skills and strategies. Topics include reading and writing processes, critical thinking strategies, and recognition and composition of well-developed, coherent, and unified texts; except where noted, these topics are taught at a reinforcement level using texts primarily in a Lexile™ range of 1070 to 1220.

DRE 098: Integrated Reading and Writing III

This course is designed to develop proficiency in integrated and contextualized reading and writing skills and strategies. Topics include reading and writing processes, critical thinking strategies, and recognition and composition of well-developed, coherent, and unified texts; these topics are taught using texts primarily in the Lexile™ range of 1185 to 1385.
