Mole crabs are common in the intertidal zone here at our beaches. The impact humans have on the ecology of the intertidal zone is being studied using this "bioindicator" species.

Some species of fish feed almost exclusively on mole crabs. Some people use them for bait - especially individuals that have recently molted.
