There was a man who lived as a hermit down at Ft. Fisher. He gave up on "normal" life and moved down to our area from Shelby, NC to live off of the land. I was lucky enough to meet him as a very little boy. My daddy was fascinated by Mr. Robert Harrill, the Ft. Fisher Hermit and visited him many times at his bunker in the salt marsh off Hwy 421. He taught that "Common sense" and an understanding and love of nature were crucial to a good life. We can all learn a thing or two from his philosophy.
