Welcome Students!

Your success in this class is very important to me.  I will make myself available to you anytime you feel the need.  I do not mind calls at home.  A schedule of my classes as well as my “on campus” office hours is posted both on my office door and on the classroom door.

If there is anything that I should know that might influence your performance in class please let me know.  For example, if you have a vision problem, you should sit in the front.  Also, I could print your quizzes in extra large type.

Be advised that absenteeism can cause you to fail a course even though you are passing otherwise.  I am required to turn in an attendance roster along with your grade.  Refer to your student handbook for a further explanation of this policy if you like.  Also, excessive tardiness can be detrimental.  I expect every student to be sitting in place at the class starting time. Announcements, explanations and directions can't be repeated for everyone who arrives late.

Class Rules

There is to be absolutely no food or drink around the computers.  If you have food or drink left over from break, find a place in front of the room where it will not endanger any equipment.

Do not “personalize” any computers and do not bring any software from outside the class to load on CFCC computers. This includes downloading software without approval.

All monitors should be turned off during lectures, quizzes etc. unless instructed otherwise. It is inappropriate to be clicking away at a game or browsing the web while I am attempting to impart important crucial knowledge to students.

There will be a 10-minute break each hour.  You will be expected to return to class within that time.

So Come and Enjoy!  This class can be a fun learning experience!

STUDENT E-MAIL ACCOUNTS

Every student has an official CFCC-provided email account which is to be used for all email correspondence with your instructors and with the CFCC staff.  Some information from CFCC will ONLY be emailed to this address, and not sent through postal mail as in the past, so it is very important that you check this account periodically.  To access this account, please visit the CFCC website www.cfcc.edu and click on the Campus Cruiser link; then follow the instructions to log in. Your email address is yourlogin@email.cfcc.edu.  This email account is for your use while you are attending classes and will still be active until one year after your last class.  Your account may be used for personal as well as academic email and is subject to the CFCC Acceptable Use Policy.

ACADEMIC HONESTY

CFCC requires of students complete academic honesty in the completion of all assigned work.  The discipline policy for academic dishonesty can be found in the CFCC 2010-2011 Catalog & Student Handbook.
