Huskins, Concurrent Enrollment, and NC Learn and Earn Programs at CFCC

Huskins and Concurrent Enrollment

New Hanover and Pender County high school juniors and seniors who are at least 16 years old may qualify to enroll in a CFCC class through the Huskins and concurrent enrollment programs.

What's the difference?

Huskins classes are college courses designated primarily for qualified high school students. Most of the time, CFCC instructors teach these classes on the campuses of participating local high schools; however, some Huskins classes meet on the college campus.

Concurrent enrollment allows qualified high school students who are 16 or older to enroll in CFCC courses found in the regular schedule of classes. Since priority registration is given to adult degree-seeking students, concurrent enrollment students register for classes on CFCC's Late Registration Day.

How can I apply?

Complete the Gateway Application and submit it to your high school counselor. Each school has different guidelines for enrolling in college classes through Huskins or concurrent enrollment, so make sure you understand your school's procedures and policies.

Learn and Earn Online

This program is open to qualified North Carolina high school students across the state. Learn and Earn Online classes are distance learning courses in that the instructor teaches the course entirely online.

How can I apply?

Follow the application steps on our Learn and Earn Online site.

Early Colleges (Learn and Earn High Schools)

Early college high schools are small, accelerated public high schools located on a college campus. Students enter the program as ninth graders and within four to five years, graduate with a high school diploma and up to two years of college credit.

How can I apply?

If you are a rising ninth graders residing in New Hanover or Pender County, please contact your school counselor or your school system's central office for application procedures.
