Dr. John Schulte (Clinical psychologist, psychology professor)-Discussion of DSM standards of diagnosis and current treatment methods
Aimee Helmus (Director of Disability Services)-Discussion of stats regarding students registered with Autism and services provided for students on the spectrum
Dan Reid (Instructor of Fire Technology, Parent of Child on Spectrum)-Discussion of first responder training to identify and work with individuals with special needs in emergency situations, personal experience parenting a child on the spectrum
Rebecca McGee-Hudson (Autism Specialist, TEACCH Wilmington) Discussion of services provided by TEACCH to support children and families of those with ASD in our community, personal experience as the parent of a child with special needs
Teresa Mebane (Advocate NC Autism Society) –Discuss services and advocacy provided by NC Autism Society and also speak about her experiences as the parent of a child on the spectrum who attends CFCC, Teresa will also fill in the blanks if we’ve omitted anything
Ben Billingsley will moderate the discussion and Q&A to follow.
