Craven Arts Council & Gallery is proud to present “Creative Workforce” in the Main Gallery at Bank of the Arts starting August 7 to August 30. This exhibition will feature the work of art professors from community colleges in our area and their contributions to our region both artistically and holistically. Craven Arts will host an opening reception August 10th from 5pm to 8pm, during the downtown New Bern Artwalk.
“Community colleges serve as the backbone of the higher education system, providing affordable, local access to classes that enhance their ability to excel in their chosen fields. Unfortunately, art is often overlooked by many in and outside these institutions, due to the lack of defined career path or perceptions about the value of art.” – Jonathan Burger, Marketing and Gallery Director, Craven Arts Council & Gallery, Inc.
“Creative Workforce” seeks to challenge these ideas, by showing the high caliber of work being produced by instructors at these institutions in our area. Professors from seven local community colleges with display work ranging from painting, pottery, sculpture, video, and mixed media.
Cape Fear Community College art professors participating in this exhibit: Victoria Paige, Rick Conn, Jennifer Mace, Brandon Guthrie, Ben Billingsley, Abby Perry.
Information about art programs in local community colleges will also be on display.
