Originally hailing from Tennessee, Jack Landry started off his acting career with local theatre in his hometown of Knoxville, and in high school, Jack landed a reoccurring role in the CBS series Christy. Following up Christy, Jack played the role of the Red-Headed Soldier in the Hallmark production of Carson McCullers’ A Member of the Wedding.
Jack then chose to seek a BA in Theatre at the College of Charleston. In college, Jack continued his work in theatre and television, playing the role of Larry Sweet in the NBC movie-of-the-week, Love’s Deadly Triangle the story of a high-school romance gone wrong. After college, he continued to study theatre, attending the Stanislavsky Summer School, an intensive six-week training program run in association with the American Repertory Theatre and the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard).
To obtain an MFA in theatre, Jack attended the Pennsylvania State University’s MFA program for Acting, where, for three years, he studied the program’s Meisner-based methodology under Jim Wise. While there, he worked at Pennsylvania Center Stage, the AEA theatre on Penn State’s campus.
After receiving his MFA, Jack married his college sweetheart, Weatherly, and moved to Wilmington, NC. Once in Wilmington, Jack landed a role in the NBC series, Surface, where he played Jared, and also appeared in Wilmington’s long running CW show, One Tree Hill.
Recently, Jack played Albion Tourgee in the upcoming bio-pic of jazz inventor Buddy Bolden, starring Anthony Mackie, scheduled for release in late 2009. Jack just finished shooting Good Old Fashioned Orgy (to be released in 2009), a SNL comedy, where he plays the not-so-cool Reverend Jake.
Jack continues to live and work in Wilmington, NC with his wife, where he teaches at the AFA Drama program at Cape Fear Community College.
