Dr. Robert Sutton, Chair of the Humanities Department

Self

In 1994 I became the first full-time Instructor of Religion and Philosophy at Cape Fear Community College and moved to Carolina Beach from New Jersey, where I had earned my Ph.D. at the Graduate School at Drew University. Teaching on the college level is the profession that I chose in my first year as an undergraduate student at Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, VA. Thus, I am fortunate to be making a living doing what I wanted to do and finding teaching something that I continue to enjoy.  In addition to my commitment to teaching, I have also engaged in scholarly activities, such as authoring a book, Human Existence and Theodicy: A Comparison of Jesus and Albert Camus, publishing several articles, producing forum for local and television audiences, and I have been active in professional societies.  For a more in depth look at my background, please visit my curriculum vitae.
