RESIDENTIAL DESIGN II

I.          COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides advanced projects with a client profile that utilizes the skills developed in DES 230. Emphasis is placed on a total concept and the presentation of appropriate and creative design solutions.

II.        COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, students should be able to complete a detailed floor plan, space planning, furniture plan, specifications, program schedules, finishes, and detailed window treatments.

III.       COURSE CONTENT
 

1. To conceptualize room situations and develop appropriate solutions

2. To explore innovative possibilities to solving problems in design

3. To develop divergent thinking abilities in design students

4. To devise appropriate exploration methods to assist in creating solutions

5. To create an atmosphere that welcomes innovation in thinking

6. To place an emphasis on environmental caring in design

7. To develop human concern in design consideration

8. To explore ergonomics in regard to furnishing solutions

1.       To develop the ability to render solutions to problems pictorially

2.       To utilize information to complete a package design of components

3.       To develop professional skills in product specification
