SYLLABUS

I.          COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed to improve conceptual abilities as applied to problems involved with creating practical furniture designs. Emphasis is placed on the awareness of creative thinking techniques that are involved with producing a workable design in an innovative fashion.

 

II.        COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, students should be able to apply creative thinking techniques to find innovative solutions to furniture problems

 

III.       COURSE CONTENT

Students will investigate various methods of discovery to develop abilities of creative thought.
Utilization of brainstorming, networking, grouping, etc. will be exercised to methodically think our possibilities of developing creative thought potential. Projects will be utilized to exercise certain types of thinking and to facilitate the quality of the thought processes and to exercise divergent thinking and its resulting possibilities. Certain projects will be assigned outside of class to facilitate the understanding of divergent thinking and design development.

V.        EVALUATION

Through a series of assignments the student build towards an accepted level of skill in presenting ideas for interior design. These assignments will be used to evaluate their proficiency.
